Thomas Mitchell Caldwell was serving with the 6th Royal Scots Fusiliers when he was captured on 5th July 1944 (near Cully he says in his PoW questionnaire). He had been wounded & perhaps this is why he became a PoW being left behind in the ebb & flow of the confused fighting in the area at the time. He ended up at Stalag 357 Oerbke near Fallingbostel.
Mrs Marjorie Caldwell, Tom Caldwell’s daughter in Law kindly provided the majority of the photos & images in this section of the site when we met up during one of my holidays near Dumfries.
